Happy new year!
It’s crazy that we have 2021! I don’t know if I’m the only one but 2020 passed quickly and the same time very slowly. So much happened in 2020. In the beginning of last year, I was an Au Pair in the US, my parent visited me and we did a road trip, I had my travel month, corona started, I came back to Germany, I moved to Berlin and started my apprenticeship as an event manager. Not everything in 2020 was bad. If you want to read more about my 2020 review check out my post. π
Nevertheless I hope that 2021 will bring us more joy and the energy to live the life that we want. If you want to change something you have to start now, to see result in a year or in 5 years. Don’t get me wrong. A new year is a fresh start and a good way to set goals but you have to stay focus and keep trying even when you get to the point when you forget it or you think that you can’t change something in your life, for example your routine. You can do that! I believe in you!
But how do I find resolutions/ goals?
- Review your year 2020:
What did you liked and disliked about the way you spend your day and handle things? Write it all down to have a review on it. Which things on the list would you like to change or to keep? Which things would you like to try this year?
For example:
- Health (drink more water, eat more vegetables, try new recipes)
- Fitness (more sport, try a new sport)
- Job (start a new job, find a student job)
- Self development (start a journal, read more books)
- Routine (have a morning and evening routine)
- Start new hobbies (learn chess, draw)
- Travel (travel to a new destination)
- Character (become more confident, be kind)
- Education (start studying, listen to a TED talks)
2. Set 15 goals/ resolutions:
I can recommend don’t have more than 15 resolutions for the year. Otherwise it seems so overwhelming and you don’t know where to start and be realistic about the goals. If you never workout three times in a week before do not start with it. It’s better to start slowly. So you do once per week sport and if it works you can set your goal to twice per week. And don’t just write: “drink more water” down, it has to be more specific, like “drink 6 glasses of water a day”, then you exactly know what your goal is.
I hope, that I could help you a little bit with your 2021 resolutions and don’t feel bad if you sometimes fail. It’s more important that you don’t give up on your goals. Good luck!

There are my 2021 resolutions:
Visit one new country
As you know I love traveling! I want to see the world and make a lot of experiences. I did not see many countries of Europe yet. It’s kind of sad because everything is so close. Maybe I’ll travel to Austria, Poland, Czech Republic or a different country. I’m not sure and of course I don’t know if I can travel in 2021 because of COVID-19.Β
Take care of myself:
Β With that I mean to keep an eye on my health and listen to my body. For example I want to visit a doctor to do a blood test to see if my body is getting all the nutrients that it needs. In a fact of deficiency it can cost long term consequences. Of course, drinking more water is on my list. Minimum of 4 cups a day and I want to sleep 7 to 8 hours per day.Β
Sport (2-5 times a week)
Talking about taking care of myself. In April 2020, my sister and I started to write a weekly sport schedule. Studies have shown that people move less and less because of our jobs and lifestyles. I want to feel fit, so I want to do sport two to five times per week, taking stairs instead of elevators or escalators, I want to reach a health weight and it would be nice if I can do a slits at the end of the year.Β
Read more (5 books in a year)
Β At the moment, I spend too much time on technical devices. I need to change that! Reading is the perfect way to do it and at the same time I learn a lot of new things. Because I don’t want to read only fantasy books or Romans, even more I want to read books about personal growth, motivation and books in English (my second language). I know, reading 5 books in a year seems for some of you not much, but the last years I just read 1-2 books. I have to start at some point.Β
Get a tattoo
Β For years I want to have a tiny tattoo. Not only because it’s on my bucket list. In my opinion, it’s looks nice and it’s a creative way to have something under your skin that reminds you on certain thoughts or experiences. I already know which tattoo shop I will go but still I have to figure out what I want, it has to be timeless, something important, something small.Β
Work on my blog
In 2020, I started to take my blog more seriously. Having a blog is a great tool to write down my thoughts and adventures. I would like to do this hobby more often in the future because I enjoy it a lot. That means I’ll try to Β post more. At least once a month, twice would be even better. That’s why I will invest more time in writing posts, in brainstormings and discovering new places or doing researches. It would be also great to get more visitors, views and followers who would like to follow me on my way. But I will set these goals in privately.
Personal growth
Currently, I read many articles and watch videos about personal growth. It’s essential to get more information about it to become the person that you would like to be.Β For that, I want to watch one TED talk video per week and read more books about it. Honestly, I did not make a plan yet to achieve certain goals about it but in general I want to collect more informations about it. Changes don’t happen overnight.Β
Get a mini job and volunteer somewhere
Let’s be honest traveling is not cheap and living in a big city certainly not at all. It would be nice to find a mini job during my apprenticeship. It will be not easy because of corona and my time schedule. Even so I’ll find a way. I always do. The last thing on my list is volunteer somewhere. I always wanted to do good things in the world and to my mind it’s important to help people, animal or do something else to develop your horizon.Β
What are your goals for 2021?
Enjoyed reading your blog! Focusing on our personal growth and overall well being is very important not only for our physical health but also for our mental health. The gift of being imperfect is great to discover our authentic selves.

Hi! I really enjoyed reading your post and was especially exciting about your wish of getting a tattoo! This is also on my list (actually was already last year, but you know… corona and stuff) and I hope this year tattoo salons will be able to open again!
Traveling is also a thing that needs to be done this year, but how it will go, no one knows yet!
Stay safe and healthy!

Hey Sandra! I hope it too that the tattoo salons can open again but I think it will be difficult to get an appointment :(. Travel… I miss it really! Maybe we should explore our area more to have the feeling of travel π
