It’s hard to believe that 2024 is over again. I look back on the year positively because I was able to experience so much during this time. I also spent the whole year in Portugal and decided to stay longer. I am very happy with this decision because I will discover more of Portugal, learn the language and simply live my life. I also finished my 101 things in 1001 days list just before Christmas. It was a very cool experience because you realize how quickly time flies and how little you do of the things you set out to do. That’s why I’m definitely going to write a new list and add the things I didn’t manage to do to the new list. I will also make a note of my annual resolutions for 2025.
I also traveled a lot again this year. Within Portugal I went to Evora, a lot of beaches, Sintra, two concerts (Thirty Second to Mars, Falling in Reverse) and I visited a lot of museums.
I visited Barcelona in March. My first time in Spain and I really enjoyed it. I also took a day trip to Andorra to check off another country in Europe. In June/July, my sister visited me in Lisbon and we flew to Madeira together. It was simply fantastic but unfortunately very crowded in some places. In September, I finally flew to the USA again after 4 years. I was very excited to see everything with others. I first went to the east coast and visited cities like New York City, Washington D.C., Baltimore and Philadelphia and then I flew to Seattle. I visited my family and spent time with my host family. It was just like before, except that my host children were a lot older.
In November I visited Krakow, which is a good weekend trip within Europe. Just two weeks later, I was already on my way to Germany. Finally, after more than a year in Portugal. Unfortunately, I only had a few days to see as many relatives and friends as possible. But it was a great time and I also went to carnival with a friend. I have to be honest and say that I really miss stores like DM and Rossmann in Portugal because they have a good range of cosmetics and vegetarian food. But Germany isn’t too far away either, so you can get to Germany quickly or simply send a parcel with groceries to Portugal.
Unfortunately, I neglected my blog a bit in the middle of the year, although this year was the best in terms of views. I’m going to work on that more next year. I’m going to have a relaxed start to the new year and I’m very excited to see what’s in store for me.
I hope you have a good start to the new year too!
Best,
Saskia ❤
