Hey people,

It is October! The month that is all about Horror, pumpkins and Halloween and where can you celebrate this better than in America?!

My month started quite boring and the swimming competitions of my host kids starts again. Yeah, sitting at the warm swimming pool for hours, as I love it… But I have to say that I started to get thrill about swimming here. It is very exciting when the kids compete against each others.  Only the breaks between the events is really annoying. Every time we drive to different pool locations around Washington. But we don’t drive longer than one hour, it depends on the traffic. Although in the summer we went to Wenatchee for a competition but this place is an exception.

I don’t know why I didn’t go on a pumpkin patch last year. So I put it on the top of my Au Pair bucket list. Quit spontaneous, I asked a friend if she has time on October 13. Because I didn’t have any plans yet and I really wanted to do something. Because my host family wasn’t home. Actually, I had the time for traveling but I bought a concert ticket for a great band. I’ll come back later to this. So, I couldn’t fly away. Although a city like Denver or Victoria (Canada) would be perfect for a short trip. Well, you can’t have everything and I have a few more weekends left to do something. Okay, let’s get back to the actually topic: The pumpkin patch. My friend wrote me that she had already plans to go to a pumpkin patch and I can come if I want. It would be a long drive but when else would I do that?

Around 3 pm I arrived at the Craven Farm and I looked around by myself because the others weren’t here yet. Then I met her friends and we decided to try the maze. The entry cost us 8 Dollars (really expensive). All six of us entered the maze “Alice in Pumpkinland”. First I thought that we have to answer questions to find the right way. But I was wrong. Unfortunately there were only signs with “There” and we had to decided which way we want to go. Pretty quickly we knew to which things we had to gave our attention to. You could see which was a circle and on the ground wasn’t gras if it was the right way (on the other ways a lot of grass had grown). After 25 Minutes we were out. We took some pictures and then I decided to drove back because I had to get ready for the concert.

Concert! Like last year I’m going to 3 concerts (actually last year was it 4) but this year I go by myself. After I was ready, I ordered an Uber. Around 6.30 pm I arrived at the Neptune Theater. So had I half an hour left and there wasn’t even a crowd. It took me only 2 minutes to the security check and I got into the line to the theater. So, I though that but I was wrong. It turned out later that the people waited for the Merch of the bands :D. Finally I found the entrance and I was confused where I should went. But I decided to go to the stage. There wasn’t many people and I was in the fourth row. The first band was “Palisades”, then “Hyde”, then ” A Brillant Lie”. Honestly, I didn’t know one song of them. After a long time waiting, came “Starset“! After weeks of constant listening to their music, I finally see them. I was ready to dance and in the meantime I was in the third row. So I had a perfect view of the stage. Starset was awesome! The stage outfits and the show were brillant! Unfortunately, the evening ended too fast.

Only three days later (on October 16)  I went to another concert. This time it was harder for me to go to it. Because it was midweek. I spoke with my host parents and we solved the problem. I was so excited. I’ll see two bands that I really like. As always, I ordered an Uber. However, I went to the WaMu Theater in Seattle downtown next to the century link field. New concert, new hall :D. At the entrance a man told me that I can’t go in with my small bag. I wanted to check if the man was right and he was. Fortunately, there were people who kept the bags for 10 Dollars. It didn’t seem so safe so I removed all my valuables from the bag (house keys, power bank, driver’s license and my bank card). Finally I could enter the hall and I decided to go to the stage. Unlike the Starset concert, there were already more people and I was in the ninth row. I was glad that I wore my boots with a heel again. Even though my feet will hate me later. The first band was “Poppy”. I don’t know until today what I think about the band. The singer use a sweet singing voice in each song and then her metal voice. It’s weird. After it came “Sleeping with Sirens“. I was so happy to see the band because I really like the songs and the front singer is really good live.  I also immediately realized that I was on a bigger rock concert because the band wanted the pushing circle. Luckily I was right of the stage and I got only slight effects from the circle. Right at the beginning with the band “Poppy” the music was turned up really loud, so my ears stared to hurt. Couldn’t they start quieter and then slowly make it louder and louder? Then finally came “Bring me the horizon“. Their music style has changed a bit. However, I still like the band very much. Unfortunately, the pushing and crowding was particularly strong and I couldn’t fully enjoy the show. The only good thing about it, was that I kept coming forward. But the crowd stopped and I was really happy about that. They also played old songs and the evening ended also too fast and thus my last concert.

Es ist Oktober! Der Monat in dem sich alles um Horror, Kürbisse und Halloween dreht und wo kann man dies besser feiern als in Amerika?!

Mein Monat ist ganz langweilig gestartet und die Zeit der Schwimmwettkämpfe meiner Gastkinder geht wieder los! Yeah, stundenlang am warmen Pool sitzen, wie ich das Liebe… Ich muss aber sagen, dass ich mich erst hier für schwimmen begeistert habe. Es ist schon sehr spannend, wenn die Kids gegeneinander antreten. Nur, das warten zwischen den Events ist echt nervenaufreibend. Wir fahren jeden Mal zu verschiedenen Pool Locations in Washington. Aber wir fahren nicht länger als eine Stunde. Obwohl im Sommer fahren wir nach Wenatchee aber dieser Ort ist auch eine Ausnahme.

Ich weiß nicht warum aber ich bin letztes Jahr nicht auf einer Kürbis Farm gegangen. Also, stand dies ganz oben auf meiner Au Pair Bucket List. Ziemlich spontan habe ich eine Freundin gefragt, ob sie am 13 Oktober Zeit hat. Weil ich noch keine Pläne gemacht hatte und ich wollte unbedingt die Tage etwas unternehmen. Da meine Gastfamilie unterwegs ist. Eigentlich hätte ich verreisen können aber ich hatte mir eine Konzertkarte gekauft. Wozu ich später nochmal kommen werde. Also konnte ich nicht wegfliegen, obwohl eine Stadt, wie Denver oder Victoria (Kanada) ideal für einen Kurztrip wären. Naja, man kann nicht alles machen und ich habe noch ein paar Wochenenden an denen ich etwas machen kann. Okay, kommen wir zum eigentlichen Thema zurück: Die Kürbis Farm. Meine Freundin schrieb mir, dass sie schon verabredet ist und zu einer Pumpkin Patch im Norden fährt und ich mitkommen kann. Mir war bewusst, dass ich dann super lange hinfahren muss aber wann würde ich es  sonst machen?

Kurz vor 15 Uhr kam ich an beim der Carven Farm an und schaute mich erstmal alleine um bis die anderen kamen. Wir entschieden uns zusammen das Maislabyrinth auszuprobieren. Nachdem jeder 8 Dollar hingeblättert hat, ging es los. Zu sechs betraten wir das Labyrinth Alice im Pumpkinland. Zuerst dachte ich, dass man Fragen beantworten muss um den richtigen Weg zu finden. Aber ich habe mich geirrt. Leider gab es nur Schilder auf denen “Hier lang” stand und wir mussten uns dann einfach entscheiden wo wir lang wollen. Ziemlich schnell bekamen wir mit, wenn es sich  um einen Kreis handelte und wir sahen am Boden, wo die meisten langgegangen sind (dort ist kein Grasgewachsen). Nach 25 Minuten fanden waren wir draußen. Nach ein paar Fotos beschloss ich loszufahren, damit ich genug Zeit habe, um mich für das Konzert vorzubereiten.

Konzert! Wie auch letztes Jahr gehe ich auf 3 Konzerte aber in diesem Jahr gehe ich alleine. Ich machte mich schnell fertig und dann bestellte ich mir ein Uber mit dem ich dann 18.30 Uhr am Neptune Theatre an kam und somit hatte ich noch eine halbe Stunde Zeit. Ich dachte, dass es super voll wird und ich anstehen muss aber Fehlanzeige. Durch den Security kam ich in 2 Minuten und dann stellte ich mich an einer Schlange an. Es stellte sich später heraus, dass es zum Merch der Bands ging :D. Schließlich ging ich hinein und hatte keine Ahnung, wohin ich musste. Ich beschloss aber einfach zur Bühne zu gehen und mich dort einzureihen. Es waren noch nicht viele Leute da und ich stand in der vierten Reihe. Zuerst spielte “Palisades”, dann “Hyde”, und dann “A Brillant Lie” . Ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass ich keine Lieder von ihnen kannte. Nach super langem Warten kam endlich “Starset”. Nach wochenlangem einstimmen auf den Abend war ich so ready mit dem Beat mitzugehen und in der Zwischenzeit war ich sogar in der dritten Reihe. Somit hatte ich einen perfekten Ausblick auf die Bühne. Starset war grandios. Die Bühnenoutifts und die Bühnenshow! Einfach super! Viel zu schnell endete der Abend.

Nur drei Tage später am 16 Oktober, ging ich auf das nächste Konzert. Diesmal war es etwas schwieriger weil es mitten in der Woche war aber ich klärte es mit meinen Gasteltern ab. Die Vorfreude war gigantisch. Nun werde ich zwei Bands sehen, die ich super gerne mag. Wie immer bestellte ich mir ein Uber. Jedoch ging es für mich zum WAMU theatre am Century link field. Neues Konzert, neue Konzerthalle :D. Am Eingang wurde ich schon von einem Mann angesprochen, dass ich nicht mit meiner kleinen Handtasche hinein darf. Ich wollte mich selber vergewissern und ging zum Security aber der Mann hatte recht. Ich dürfte sie nicht mit rein nehmen. Zum Glück gab es Leute die gegen 10$ Taschen aufbewahrten, Da es mir zuerst nicht so sicher schien, entfernte ich alle Wertsachen aus der Tasche (Hausschlüssel, Powerbank, Führerschein und Bankkarte). Endlich konnte in die Halle und ich entschied mich wieder zur Bühne zu gehen. Anders als beim Starset Konzert war es deutlich voller, sodass ich in der neunten Reihe stand. Ich war froh, dass ich mir wieder meine hohen Schuhe angezogen habe, auch wenn meine Füße mich später wieder hassen werden. Zuerst kam die Band “Poppy”. Ich weiß, bis heute nicht, was ich von der Band halten soll. Die Sängern verwendet in jedem Song ihre süße Singstimme und dann ihre Metalstimme. Danach kam “Sleeping with Sirens”. Ich war so happy diese Band zu sehen weil mir die Lieder total gefallen und der Frontsänger echt gut live ist. Ich merkte auch sofort, dass ich auf einem größeren Rockkonzert war weil die Band immer wieder zu diesem Pushkreis aufrief. Also in der Mitte entsteht ein Kreis und die Leute laufen drumherum und schubsen sich gegenseitig. Zum Glück war ich rechts und ich bekam nur leichte Auswirkungen des Kreises ab. Gleich am Anfang mit der Band “Poppy” wurde die Musik super laut aufgedreht, sodass meine Ohren weh taten. Hätte sie nicht leiser anfangen können und es dann langsam immer lauter machen können? Dann kam endlich “Bring me the Horizon”. Der Musikstil hat sich etwas verändert. Jedoch mag ich die Band immer noch sehr gerne. Leider wurde das Schubsen und Gedränge besonders stark, sodass ich teilweise wenig Luft bekam. Die einzige gute Sachen daran war, dass ich weiter nach vorne kam.  Das Gedränge hörte aber wieder auf und ich genoss die super Bühnenshow von Bring me the Horizon. Sie spielten auch alte Lieder und wieder viel zu schnell endete der Abend und somit mein letztes Konzert.
